Taku Engineering provided multidiscipline engineering services for the design of a new stormwater treatment system at Andeavor’s Ocean Dock Terminal (ODT) in Anchorage, AK.
Taku also designed modifications to the system to provide the means to capture and contain a railcar fuel release using much of the existing infrastructure and new automated flow controls.
Engineering Design Services
Taku assessed the existing ODT Facility and stormwater management system. The existing stormwater management and treatment system was improperly configured and not efficient to operate. In addition, the facility did not have sufficient railcar secondary containment. Working closely with the Andeavor Team, Taku developed a cost-effective plan and design to manage, treat and discharge the facility stormwater. The design also integrated railcar secondary containment into the system utilizing existing abandoned infrastructure to the greatest extent possible.

Taku recognized opportunities to simplify the existing stormwater treatment system to reduce operating costs and risks. Additionally, Taku identified existing infrastructure that could be used in the system as secondary containment governed by automated flow control in the event of catastrophic railcar failure.
